Introduction

Welcome to My Little Photo Diary, a space where you can discover all things related to Mindfulness and Photography.

 

What is Mindfulness? 

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention.

 

​Mindfulness teaches us to slow down, and bring ourselves back to the moment we find ourselves in.

Regular practice breaks us free from distractions and judgemental thoughts. It helps to bring us back to our natural state.

 

Knowing where your attention is, and having a conscious choice of where to direct it is one of the many benefits of mindfulness. You don't need any special tools to practice, just your mind, body and the present moment.

Anyone can benefit from practicing mindfulness in all its forms. Regular practice enhances our wellbeing as we learn to understand ourselves. Helping us to become free from distracted thoughts; becoming aware our inner world, as well as the external.

Mindfulness & Photography

Taking photographs whilst practicing mindfulness is a form of meditation that brings us into the present moment. Using some or all of our senses to take in the world around us, photographing what we see when we are truly present and undistracted by daily life. It could be flowers that have just bloomed, the play on light and shadows on leaves. Steam floating above your freshly brewed coffee. You don't need to go on an extravagant walk into the countryside to practice mindful photography, your home and garden or the local park work just as well!​

About Me

About me, My Little Photo Diary

I'm Nicola, a professional Portrait Photographer.

 

I discovered mindfulness and photography in 2020, during the Covid Pandemic. My Little Photo Diary was originally created on Instagram to document what I was photographing whilst on my mindful walks. Four years later and I've now turned that into a space into a platform that I hope will inspire others to practice their own mindfulness and photography meditation, so they too can experience all the benefits it has to offer. 

Practicing mindfulness has helped me to become much more aware of my thoughts and feelings. I take time to slow down, enjoying each moment rather than rushing to the next. Embracing each moment, connecting my mind to my body; because after all, our body is always living in the present moment, isn't it?

Practicing mindful photography is a simple yet effective meditation. I love practicing mindfulness and photography whilst out on walks in nature, letting my senses guide me to the photographs I take.
